We have an upcoming meeting on Tuesday, September 25 at 5:30 at the Lit and Film classroom in E/CS (room 017). We will be talking about Sigma Tau Delta, T-Shirt ideas and Fundraisers. Also, since the meeting is the week before Banned Book Week, bring your favorite banned book (for ideas
visit http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/bbwlinks/100mostfrequently.htm) and we'll discuss them!
Some other reminders:
* There will be a Banned Book Reading in the Union Plaza October 2-5. People will be reading from their favorite banned books. Come and listen or sign up to read yourself by signing up on the sign-up sheet located in the copy room of the E/CS building.
* We are looking for some wonderful volunteers who would like to help us chalk sidewalks before the next meeting. Please send an e-mail to Kelsey Bates to volunteer for this.
* There will be an informational meeting about how to apply for graduate school (M.A. and Ph.D) on September 28th for both undergraduate and graduate students. Taking the GREs, preparing a writing sample and a personal statement, and other information will be shared. It will take place at 3:30 p.m. in E/CS 017.
*For those who want to apply to an MFA program, a meeting on October 5 will address those special requirements. It will take place at 3:30 p.m. in E/CS 017.
* And for those of you who don't want to go to grad school, we'll be running workshops, inviting speakers, and brainstorming about the many things you can do with an English major later this Fall and next Spring.
We look forward to seeing you all there!

Touchstone Deadline Reminder!
A reminder to all students who are interested in the Spring 2008 issue of Touchstone, Kansas State University's literary magazine, the deadline is this Friday.
Some of the members of Metaforum have been a part of Touchstone before, and highly recommend it as a foundation for students' careers. Not only do you get your name published in print, but you get a feel for what it's like to work in the publishing industry, what publishers are looking for, how to not get your work thrown into the trashcan and see what other writers are working on. It is also invaluable on a resume.
So, if you are interested, the deadline is this Friday, September 7, 2007. To apply, turn in a copy of your resume in E/CS 119. Make sure you submit a printed copy of your resume, because David is overwhelmed with e-mails right now; and although it is not required, a cover letter is strongly suggested.

All University Career Fair Opportunity Suspended
Due to an influx of applications after the second call for volunteers, Metaforum has been put on a waitlist for the All University Career Fair.
Career and Employment Services will notify us the week of September 10 to let us know if any spots opened or not.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
