All University Career Fair Volunteers Needed!

Metaforum has been given an opportunity to volunteer at the All University Career Fair on September 18 and 19, 2007. This would be a very beneficial opportunity for Metaforum as a fundraiser. For every ten volunteer hours that are given, we receive $100.

Right now we have enough members committed that ten hours can be accomplished, but we would like to go for twenty.

The money earned at this event may make our t-shirts free for all members, and allow other endeavours members wish to pursue with the club to be possible. From the ideas thrown around at the first meeting, it seems there is quite a bit that people want to do before the end of the semester. This money would allow us to do more of those ideas.

So if you are interested and have the time, send us an e-mail and we will give you the information for signing up, or there will most likely be a post on here in the next week with the information. Even one volunteer hour would be appreciated, so please let us know.

First Meeting Fall '07

Welcome back, fellow students. We hope you all enjoyed a fruitful summer. With the semester getting into full swing, it’s that time of the year to have our first meeting.

We plan on doing a lot this year in Metaforum, including: helping undergraduates find the right graduate schools for them, how to apply, and furthermore, how to stand out in the seemingly endless heap of applications on Universities’ desks; being more involved in campus events in various ways, such as hosting fundraisers and participating in banned books week; and much more.

All this will be talked about, and more, at the first meeting of the year, on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 5:30 PM in E/CS 121. At this point we plan on having pizza and discussing the calendar for the upcoming semester. So peek your head in and introduce yourself, and get prepared for an exciting semester.

Student Activities Fair

The Office of Student Activities and Services is sponsoring an opportunity to explore 200 student organizations who are looking to add new members.

The Activities Carnival and Union Expo is today, Thursday, August 23, 2007. You can meet with representatives of the 200 organizations starting at 6:30 PM on the first and second floors of the K-State Student Union.

Metaforum will be sharing a booth with Children's and Adolescent Literature Community (ChALC) at this event from 6:30-8:00 PM. Members of KSU's English club will be attending the table with fliers and treats for anyone who stops by. We encourage all returning Metaforum members, as well as students interested in the club, to stop by and talk with the students at the booth (and grab a delicious treat, as well).

See you there!
